Generator Technician
Generator Service Technician: Get Paid to Fix Engines. We'll Train and Certify You.
$20–$30/hour, depending on experience | Monday–Friday | Company Truck | Marion, IN
Are you the person who takes things apart to see how they work? Who fixes the lawn mower, the truck, or the furnace instead of calling someone? We want to talk to you.
Every home standby generator we service has an engine, a cooling system, a battery, a control board, and a transfer switch. Your job is to keep them running and figure out what's wrong when they're not. When the power goes out, families count on that machine. You're the one who makes sure it starts.
Who We Are
Knee's Electrical Service has served Indiana homeowners since 1971. We're family owned and operated, started by our owner's grandfather. We treat our customers, and each other, like family.
Why We're Hiring
Our generator maintenance program is growing fast, and we need another technician on our generator service team.
What You'll Do
- Perform preventative maintenance: oil changes, filters, spark plugs, batteries, inspections, and test runs
- Troubleshoot and repair engines, electrical components, and controls
- Work through problems step by step until you find the real cause
- Explain to homeowners what you found and what it needs, in plain language
- Log every visit on a tablet
Who We're Looking For
You don't need to be a generator tech already. We'll train you and get you Generac certified. What we need:
- You like to fix things. Small engines, cars, trucks, ag equipment, mowers, HVAC. If you've kept machines running, you'll fit right in.
- You're methodical. You'd rather do it right than fast, and you follow the checklist every time.
- You're patient. With stubborn problems and with customers.
- You're good with people. You'll be at customers' homes every day.
- You learn fast and want to keep getting better.
